Will election candidates bring about a change?

How many times does the government claim that they have taken actions to improve the status of education in India, they are trying to reach the grass root level, and they are preparing the future citizens of our country to face the challenges in the world?
These are umpteen promises we hear every time during an election campaign. Prospective candidates are excellent orators who deliver their make believe speeches without an intention to bring a change.
On observation we find that most of the municipal schools do not even have benches to sit on leave alone a books library, computer lab, science lab and good teachers. Not only is the infrastructure lacking but the teachers are also incompetent.
A few personal experiences have apprised me of the sorrowful state that the students undergo in these schools. To begin with the children belong to a very poor economic background. They are unable to even afford their school fees, book expenses, stationery expenses and uniform costs. Despite the government granting a subsidy, most of the times children drop out of school as they cannot afford their school fees. Similarly, they are unable to afford notebooks to write on or even buy their text books or stationery.
Thus when they can’t even afford their basic needs the question arises how will they prepare for the future?
